Creative practice and focus on being.

Creative practice and focus on being.

How is your new year going so far? Have you hit the ground running with new goals and plans or are you slowly easing into it?

I have been following nature’s lead, and this time of year there is still a feeling of hibernation. I am giving myself permission to move slowly and quietly into the year, saving the big goals and actions a little longer.
New shoots are beginning to appear but are not quite ready to fully burst through the surface of the soil yet….they still need to be nurtured and nourished.

Through my year long Belonging Group (
https://www.emmaroselowe.com/belonging) I have been delving into Celtic traditions, beliefs & rituals. The Celtic year mirrors closely the changes in nature’s seasons which, I am learning, also mirrors in us.

I have been allowing myself to stop rushing, to take moments to pause and feel into not so much what I want to do this year…but how I want to be. When I give my precious time to doing something, I am starting to ask myself; will doing this bring me closer to how I want to be?

One of the ways I want to be on my list is (of course) CREATIVE and this month I have really been focusing on my creative practice.
Inspired by a #31daysofcreativepractice challenge on Instagram I have been doing something (almost!) daily. Limited time watercolour sketches on various themes.

Artist practice

Creating without goal, intention or desired outcome has been a freeing experience and I will continue until I have completed 31 none consecutive days.

You can see my art sharings on Instagram & Facebook.
